No fewer than nine horse-and-rider combinations qualified for the jump-off of the 1.60m Grand Prix in Doha. In the Al Shaqab stadium, it was ultimately Scott Brash who soared to victory aboard the BWP gelding Hello Jefferson (ex. Jerenmias van het Hulstenhof), bred by B. Mols.
Brash and Hello Jefferson (by Cooper vd Heffinck) crossed the timers in 42.66 seconds to secure the Grand Prix win. The pair finished just ahead of Megane Moissonnier and the 14-year-old Selle Français stallion, Crooner Tame (Conrad). The French rider stopped the clock at 42.78 seconds, less than a second faster than Eve Jobs and the 15-year-old Canto Bruno (Cantoblanco, breeder: Niels de Bruijn), who took third.
The entire top five managed to keep the rails up in the jump-off. Janakabhorn Karunayadhaj and the Irish-bred gelding Maxwin Kinmar Bespoke (O-Piloth) finished just off the podium in fourth place, while Anastasia Nielsen and her 11-year-old ESI Rocky (Stakkato Gold) rounded out the top five.
Brash is best in CSI3* Grand Prix
Earlier Brash already jumped to the win in the 1.50m CSI3* Grand Prix aboard Hello Chadora Lady (Chacco-Blue, breeder: Paul Schockemöhle). After a Jump-Off with seven, Brash bested the time of Belgium's Abdel Said and Wathnan Calvaro (Cascadello). The day before the Belgian rider jumped to the win in the main class in Abu Dhabi, preparing for the Grand Prix tomorrow. The Grand Prix stage was completed by Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann and Iron Dames High Level (Livello).
