Henrik von Eckermann: "King Edward will not compete anymore during the indoor season, we will also skip the World Cup final!"

Henrik von Eckermann has informed our colleagues at Grand Prix that Geneva was the last indoor competition on King Edward's (Edward) schedule. "The last few months have not gone as we wanted," von Eckermann says. "Although King Edward jumped fantastically during the competitions in Geneva and A Coruna!"

"I have encountered refusals with him a few times now, so we also had a veterinary examination done. It’s important to rule out all possible causes of the problem. The tests showed that King Edward is 100% fit. I had a suspicion, but I wanted to be sure..." the Swedish show jumper told Grand Prix.

"Both in A Coruna and Geneva, I think I should have ridden more conservatively. I have now decided to give King Edward some rest so we can work on rebuilding our trust. This also means that I will not start King Edward at the Longines FEI World Cup final in Basel next year."

Von Eckermann will focus on long-term goals, starting with the outdoor season in Wellington. "We will take it competition by competition with King Edward..."
