The eveningprogram of the Al Shira'AA horse show in Abu Dhabi delivered exciting topsport in the Hickstead Speed Derby. As one of the first to go, France's Ines Joly eventually took home the win aboard Philippe Prevost's bred, Faylinn de Fondcombe.
First at the start was Germany's Sophie Hinners who set a clear round aboard her 12-year-old mare, Come Away Flamingo Z (Cardento x Dollar du Murier). Shortly after, France's Ines Joly managed to improve that performance leading her 11-year-old SF-mare, Faylinn de Fondcombe (Lando) to the win.
After a clear round in 108.65 seconds, Joly not only referred Sophie Hinners to the runner-up position, but also put the pressure on the other combinations.
The stage was completed by Shady Ghrayeb and Cabernet de Mars (Baloubet du Rouet). The pair was followed by Saudi-Arabia's Ramzy Al Duhami and Addressee (Messenger). In fifth place, Ireland's Trevor Breen placed aboard his young horse, Konrad Obolensky (Cornet Obolensky).
Before the competition started, Breen already explained his horse is relatively young. "He still spooky so it will be a task to finish this amzingly build Derby course. But I believe in Konrad Obolensky and experience is what it is all about today."
