It was another podium-sweeping day for the Irish at Spruce Meadows. World #15 ranked rider Conor Swail (IRL) completed his first 5* victory gallop of the season aboard One Edition (Tangelo van de zuuthoeve x Kannan GFE).
The pair posted a clear jump-off round with a time of 41.73s - just less than one tenth of a second faster than Darragh Kenny (IRL) and Lightning (Kannan x Animo). Kenny rounded out the podium aboard his mount Diaroubet (Diarado x Baloubet du Rouet).
FEI Course Designer Peter Grant’s (CAN) track for Saturday’s competition featured 12 obstacles (15 jumping efforts). Fourteen horses jumped the clear in the first round and advanced to the jump off.
Athletes and fans can look forward to tomorrow’s competitions, the Canadian Utilities Cup (speed competition) and the $500,000 Duncan Ross Grand Prix, presented by Rolex.
