The evening program in Gothenburg concluded with a 1.45m CSI5* class. For a long time, former Belgian champion Koen Vereecke held the lead in the standings. Ultimately, it was Giampiero Garofalo who denied the Belgian the win, riding his 10-year-old KWPN gelding, Lambrusco (Entertainer).
Garofalo jumped to victory with a narrow 0.4-second margin. Aboard Lambrusco (breeder: L. Keunen-Hanssen), the Italian stayed ahead of Koen Vereecke and his 12-year-old BWP mare, Oilily de Muze (Vigo d’Arsouilles). Johanna Beckmann completed the podium riding the 13-year-old mare, Queen Frieda (Kannan).
Just off the podium, Harrie Smolders finished in the prizes. Earlier in the day, Smolders had already caught the eye in the 1.50m feature class. Partnered with Devino vd Weretherbach Z (De Flor 111 Z), the Dutchman finished ahead of Anna Olsson and Star Breaker (Stakkato Gold).
