German rider Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann has announced that she is leaving the Iron Dames team. This also brings an early end to her current Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) season. Through two personal statements, she explains her decision, in which fundamental disagreements with Deborah Mayer (the founder of Iron Dames, editor's note) regarding horse welfare and sport planning take center stage. The 'Iron Dames' project, which was originally founded to support women in motorsport and later expanded into equestrian sports, thus loses one of its most experienced figureheads.
