The stands were packed for the 1.60m World Cup in Bordeaux. Course designer Yann Royant set a challenging track, ultimately resulting in four combinations qualifying for the jump-off.
Daniel Deusser looked poised to put the icing on the cake of his week, but in the end, Jessica Burke snatched the World Cup victory away. The Irish rider was the only one to complete the jump-off clear aboard the 10-year-old SF gelding, Good Star du Bary (breeder: Marina Storgato). This marks Burke’s first-ever World Cup win and the first five-star victory of her career.
Daniel Deusser finished nearly seven seconds faster, but in the saddle of the 12-year-old BWP stallion Otello de Guldenboom (by Tobago Z, breeder: H. Versnick), he knocked one rail down, finishing in second place. The duo pushed Tom Schewe with Congress Blue PS (by Congress, breeder: Paul Schockemöhle) into third.
Just off the podium, Yuri Mansur followed in fourth with his trusted Vitiki (by Valentino), ahead of Max Kühner and Count on Me 19 (by Cascadello).
