Home riders dominated the 1.55m main class on the opening day of the CSIO5* Dublin Horse Show, occupying the top three positions in the feature event at the RDS Arena.
Jordan Coyle secured victory aboard the KWPN gelding King Kannan GP (Kannan GFE x Warrant, bred by Elan Farm). The pair delivered a clear round in a winning time of 65.49 seconds.
Shane Sweetnam took second place riding the BWP mare Pia Maria H (Kasanova de La Pomme x Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve, bred by Mia Hillen), finishing clear in 66.97 seconds. Tom Wachman completed the all-Irish podium in third position with the Selle Français gelding Do It Easy (Vigo Cece x Laeken, bred by SCEA d'Eraulcourt) after stopping the clock cleanly at 67.99 seconds.
Germany's Jörne Sprehe broke the Irish streak to finish fourth with the Hannoverian gelding Toys (Toulon x Quidam De Revel, bred by Heinrich Wecke) in a time of 68.23 seconds. Billy Twomey claimed fifth place for Ireland riding the Zangersheide gelding Ace of Hearts Z (Action-Breaker x Indorado, bred by E. Machon, P. Ruck & Ryton Live Stock) with a clear time of 68.47 seconds.
Double win for Coyle
Earlier in the day, Coyle had already claimed victory in the CSIO5* 1.45m competition with the Oldenburg gelding Cordiamo (Cornet du Lys x Conthargos, bred by Elan Farm), setting the fastest clear time of 55.84 seconds to earn the €2,250 top prize.
