The Dutch riders did not miss their start in Abu Dhabi. In the 1.50m CSIO5* Grand Prix qualification, 15 combinations qualified for the jump-off. As one of the last to start, Jur Vrieling rode the 10-year-old KWPN stallion, Clear Heart (Clarimo), to victory.
Jur Vrieling made a strong start. In the 1.50m Grand Prix qualification, he guided Clear Heart, a Clarimo son bred by G.J.W. Sikes, to a flawless win. As one of the last to enter the arena, Vrieling narrowly beat the time of Katrin Eckermann and Paul Schockemöhle's bred Iron Dames Dialou Blue PS (Diarado's Boy). Riding in front of his home crowd, Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi completed the podium in third place aboard Chacco Bay (Chaccato).
Belgium’s Wilm Vermeir started relatively early in the jump-off and ultimately finished in fourth place. Riding the 10-year-old Zangersheide mare, Magic van 't Hulgenrode Z (Midas vh Endhouse, breeder: Marcel de Ridder), Vermeir stayed ahead of Jörne Sprehe with Toys (Toulon).
