American sensation Jacob Pope was the first to deliver a clear round in the second set with the 14-year-old stallion Highway FBH (Plot Blue), bringing his total to 21 points. Abdel Said also kept the rails up with Quaker Brimbelles Z (Quicksilver St Simeon), securing his seventh-place spot in the standings with a total of 18 points.

There was a moment of self-reflection from Richard Vogel (Gangster Montdesir). Despite a clear round, he remained critical of his performance: "I didn’t ride him enough throughout the championship and left him to his own devices a bit too much. My horse was ready to score, but I didn't provide him with the necessary support."

The stakes were raised significantly after the drag break. Veteran Kevin Staut, competing in his 15th World Cup Final, delivered a flawless performance with Visconti du Telman (Toulon), maximizing the pressure on the remaining competitors.

Staut’s joy was short-lived, however. American rider Katherine A. Dinan took the lead with the BWP mare Out of the Blue SCF (Verdi TN) by finishing even faster. Germany's Rene Dittmer (Cody 139) managed to improve on that time as well. Meanwhile, the dream of a fourth title vanished for heavy favorite Steve Guerdat, who picked up eight faults with the sBs gelding Albfuehren’s Iashin Sitte.

The fight for the gold medal ultimately came down to two heavyweights. Daniel Deusser started his final with the BWP stallion Otello de Guldenboom (by Tobago Z) on a total of seven points. The pair went clear in 58.31 seconds, taking the lead and shifting all the pressure onto the final starter.

Kent Farrington knew exactly what he had to do: stay clear with a maximum of three time penalties. Paired with his top talent Greya (Colestus), the American remained ice-cold. Under the roar of the home crowd, they jumped a brilliant clear to seal the victory.
