Luciana Diniz has gained back her place amongst the top of the world, winning the CSIO5* Emirates Jumping Cup presented by Longines! In this 1.60m Grand Prix only two combinations managed to produce a clear first round.
With 13 combinations qualified for the second round, Luciana Diniz emerged victorious aboard her 17-year-old SF-gelding, Vertigo du Desert (Mylord Carthago*Hn, breeder: L. Aubaux).
“I’m just so delighted and grateful to have a horse like this. He’s 17 years old and he’s not only my horse; he’s my best friend. I had one time fault today in the first round and thought about many years ago, at the Olympic Games, I had one time fault. If I had let myself think about it, it might have affected my performance. So, I just changed my inner dialogue and imagined I would be on the podium. I rode with gratitude and believe that when everything comes together like this, it feels like a gift. I had the option to either go to Doha or come to Abu Dhabi and I’m so happy I chose to come here. The universe delivered.” Deniz says after her win.
On stage, Tim Gredley and his 14-year-old Belgian Warmblood Gelding, Medoc de Toxandria (Der Senaat 111, breeder: Werner Dierckx) followed with a total of 2 points. Great-Britain's Joseph Stockdale completed the stage aboard Ebanking (Etoulon, breeder: E. Vriend).
The pair was followed by Olivier Perreau and his 13-year-old SF-mare, GL Events Dorai d'Aguilly (Kannan). Niamh McEvoy completed the top five aboard Olympic 'GL' 'FVD' (Galisco van Paemel).
