Pasquel, who has represented Mexico at youth championship level on three occasions and successfully competed up to five-star Grand Prix level, picked up his first Jumping Recorded Warning at the CSI3* in Dinard (FRA) on August 1st. His second warning followed on September 25th at the CSI2* in Puebla (MEX).

His suspension officially came into effect on 28 September and will run through to 27 October.

The sanction falls under Article 259.1 of the restructured FEI Jumping Rules. The new rule structure was approved during the 2025 FEI General Assembly and officially came into force on 1 January 2026.

Under Article 259.1:

"Any blood on the Horse caused by tack or equipment or any Athlete induced blood detected during a Competition (from warm-up until completion of any post-Competition controls/testing) will result in consequences issued by the President of the Ground Jury."

While a first offence results in a Jumping Recorded Warning, a second offence within 12 months automatically triggers:

  • A fine of CHF 1,000

  • An automatic one-month suspension, starting the day after the conclusion of the event where the second warning was issued.

Pasquel becomes the 16th rider in 2026 to be sidelined under this updated rule, highlighting the FEI's strict enforcement of welfare protocols regarding blood in the arena.
