The quartet of Carlos Hank Guerreiro with H5 Shaq Attack (Cornet Obolensky), Patricio Pasquel aboard Chakkalou PS (Diablo Blanco), Andres Azcarraga with Contendros 2 (Contendro I) and Fernando Martinez Sommer riding Joep (Otangelo) combined for a total time of 45.91 seconds after two rounds.
With Pasquel riding clear from Germany's Richard Vogel in the deciding jump-off, the title was decided.
Germany claimed second place on four penalties. Christian Ahlmann and Applebridge Tag Z (Aganix du Seigneur) contributed four faults in the opening round, but the team bounced back strongly thanks to double clear rounds from Sophie Hinners with Iron Dames Combella (Cornet du Lys) and Jörne Sprehe aboard Toys (Toulon).
Richard Vogel and Gangster Montdesir (Kannan) added a vital clear round in the second phase to secure the runner-up position on a combined time of 39.99 seconds.
Great Britain completed the podium with eight penalties. Adrian Whiteway with Chacco Volo (Chacco-Blue) delivered one of the standout performances of the competition with two clear rounds. Jack Whitaker aboard Jack JL (Quasimodo Z) Jessica Mendoza and Summerhouse (Guidam Sohn), and Joseph Stockdale with Ebanking (Etoulon) kept the British team firmly in contention throughout the competition. A single rail separated Britain from Germany in the final standings.
The entire Mexican team was enthusiastic, starting with the chef d'equipe, Canadian Mark Laskin: “To say I'm satisfied is an understatement. However, I usually look at my team without making comparisons, which is why I believe that with today's performance, we have reason to be optimistic. Until the final stages of the class, we were focused only on ourselves. We knew that in a competition like this, literally anything could happen... I must confess, however, that facing the Germans undoubtedly stimulated us to do even better. As a coach, I have a lot of confidence in these riders. I know I can count on them every day and I know they can do well, and today they proved it. Looking to the future, I expect the same commitment for the World Championships in Aachen, where we will go with high expectations.”
