A total of 14 horse-rider combinations qualified for the jump-off in the CSIO3* 1.55m Grand Prix in Lier. The Belgian crowd lined the edges of the large arena at Azelhof and was treated to a dream scenario as Niels Fockaert rode Chacco Me Biolley to victory.
Last week, Niels Fockaert also won the CSI2* Grand Prix of Bonheiden with the son of Chacco-Blue. Today, the duo repeated that success in the 1.55m Grand Prix of Lier. As one of the first to go, they set an unbeatable time of 38.26 seconds.
Reigning Belgian champion Gilles Thomas came quite close to that time. Together with Qalista DN (Emerald van 't Ruytershof), Thomas stopped the clock at 38.40 seconds, securing second place. The pair was followed by Joao Victor Castro Aguiar Gomes De Lima and the 10-year-old BWP mare, Provence van het Bovenlos.
Jules van Hoydonck also delivered a strong round with his trusted Minte vd Bisschop (Plot Blue), jumping a clear round to take fourth place. Swiss rider Thibaut Keller completed the top five with Happy Girl T (Sandro Boy).
