Against the stunning backdrop of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, the 1.60m LGCT Grand Prix delivered world-class show jumping from start to finish. Fourteen combinations navigated the challenging first round clear to advance to the jump-off, setting up a high-speed battle for the top spot and the lion's share of the prize purse.

Returning to the arena where they triumphed last year, Christian Kukuk and the 16-year-old Westphalian gelding Checker 47 (Comme Il Faut x Come On, bred by Wolfgang Kipp) produced a masterclass performance. Crossing the line in a lightning-fast 42.14 seconds, the reigning Olympic Champions stopped the clock just ahead of the rest of the field, securing the victory along with the €330,000 winner's purse.

 “I’m so, so, so happy. I won it last year and it’s always a special thing if you win back-to-back. Honestly, it was a bit of the same situation as last year. I saw Scott and I knew again: I have to go. These are the moments where this horse is just outstanding and special, because he can kind of smell it and feel it, and then he just does things that are outstanding. I think the way that I rode to the last was unreal, that he was still able to jump it. That’s why he’s one of the best horses in the world. To be back at this incredible venue, to take the win here the history the crowd it really couldn’t get better.”

British home hero Scott Brash mounted a serious challenge aboard the 11-year-old Selle Français mare Hello Folie (Luidam x Diamant de Semilly). Brash pushed hard through the turnbacks, but his time of 42.32 seconds left him just short of the win, finishing in a strong second place. Fellow countryman Harry Charles made it two Brits on the podium, taking third place with the 10-year-old stallion Ballypatrick Tiberius (Caligula x Messenger) after a clear round in 43.29 seconds.

Germany showed immense strength in depth throughout the class. Sandra Auffarth slotted into fourth with Quirici H (43.47s), while Maximilian Weishaupt guided Zuccero HV to fifth place (43.75s). Christian Ahlmann made it four German riders in the top six aboard Untouched LB with a time of 43.81 seconds.

Rounding out the top ten were Australia's Edwina Tops-Alexander with Caetlin vd Heffinck Z in seventh (43.95s), the Netherlands' Maikel van der Vleuten aboard Beauville Z N.O.P. in eighth (45.31s), Belgium's Gudrun Patteet riding Sea Coast Qarvaljo d'Or in ninth (46.88s), and Brazil's Eduardo Pereira De Menezes in tenth with H5 Londontime (4/44.26s).
