The first round of the final for seven-year-old jumping horses at the World Championship in Lanaken, hosted by Zangersheide Stud, was interrupted following a severe fall by Patrick Stühlmeyer’s stallion Jagger Minotais. The stallion was immediately rushed to the veterinary clinic. This morning, however, sad news emerged from Schockemöhle Stables, owner of the Selle Français stallion:

“The seven-year-old stallion Jagger Minotais has been euthanized. He was severely injured last Sunday at the World Championship for Young Horses. Despite immediate medical care in a specialized veterinary clinic and extensive consultation among several equine specialists, the severity of the shattered fracture offered no hope of recovery. The syndicate of owners was therefore forced to say goodbye to this extraordinary stallion.”

The stallion's death is a tremendous loss in every respect. The Selle Français stallion (by Cornet Obolensky x Zandor Z, bred by ZG Lemoine and Tshibangu) represented an exceptionally successful French damline boasting a virtually endless list of international top showjumpers and licensed stallions, including Quickly de Kreisker, Jumpy de Kreisker, and Dexter de Kerglenn.
