Artemis Equestrian has announced the sporting retirement of Rodrigo Pessoa's Olympic horse, Carlito's Way. Together with the 15-year-old gelding, Pessoa competed at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games!
Pessoa only took over the reins of the gelding in 2020; previously, Markus Beerbaum and Rene Dittmer had been in the saddle. Together with Pessoa, the gelding competed in several CSI5* Grand Prix events and represented Brazil not only at the Tokyo Olympics but also at various Nations Cup competitions.
Later, Pessoa's wife, Alexa, took over the reins of the gelding. "We are forever grateful to Carlito's Way," writes Artemis Equestrian Farms. "After purchasing him as a seven-year-old, Rodrigo Pessoa further developed him. We are very thankful for this horse!"
We also wish Carlito a happy retirement!
