Philippe Rozier has been reappointed as head coach of the Moroccan national show jumping team. The Royal Moroccan Federation of Equestrian Sports (FRMSE) announced that he officially resumed his role on April 1, 2026.
The Frenchman is no stranger to the federation. Between 2012 and 2016, he held the same position and guided the team to, among other achievements, the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen—an important milestone in the international development of Moroccan show jumping. Rozier himself also enjoyed success at the highest level, winning Olympic gold at the Rio 2016 Games.
The FRMSE considers his return a major asset: "With his proven experience at the highest level and his in-depth understanding of the demands of elite sport, Philippe Rozier will maintain momentum by further developing and improving the performances of the national team, with the ambition of sustainably strengthening its competitiveness on the international circuit, in the short, medium, and long term." The federation is chaired by Chérif Moulay Abdallah ben Ali Alaoui.
Rozier himself expressed great enthusiasm about his return: "I am extremely happy to be working again with the Moroccan riders. With a view to the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, I will both support Kebir (Abdelkebir Ouaddar, ed.), who is taking over from my father, and work on building a strong team."
This season, his targets include the Mediterranean Games in Taranto and, if possible, participation in the World Championships in Aachen. Both events are seen as important steps on the road to the 2028 Olympic Games.
After retiring from top-level competition last autumn in Lyon, Rozier is combining his new role with several other commitments. He remains active as sporting director for competitions at the Haras de Gassin and is involved with Montaigu Dairy. In addition, he will continue coaching Monaco’s youth teams until this summer, guiding them towards the European Championships in Hagen. This transitional arrangement has been approved by both federations.
Within the technical staff, Thierry Klein will continue as assistant coach, ensuring continuity. The FRMSE wishes the riders and staff the best of success in the upcoming international competitions.
