Pieter Devos was the man to beat in the Egyptian capital. After previously reaching the podium in the LGCT Grand Prix events in Valkenswaard and Rome earlier this season, everything fell perfectly into place in Cairo. Riding the eleven-year-old mare Casual DV Z (by Cornet Obolensky x Cicero Z van Paemel), Devos stayed double clear in the jump-off, stopping the clock at a swift 45.85 seconds. The origins of Casual DV Z are close to home: the mare was bred by Devos Stables itself.

"Casual and I made it onto the LGCT podium six times this season, and winning today really is the icing on the cake. Being able to guide a horse you bred yourself all the way from the very start to a Grand Prix victory is a truly special feeling," said the delighted winner after his triumph.

Olivier Philippaerts was hot on his compatriot's heels. Aboard the ten-year-old grey gelding Hipster SV (by Corporal VDL x Cornetto), bred by Cecilia and Jörgen Ohlsson, Philippaerts also delivered a clear round in the jump-off. His time of 46.31 seconds was just short of the victory, but earned him a impressive second place.

Great Britain's Ben Maher took the third step on the podium. Riding the twelve-year-old stallion Point Break (by Action-Breaker x Balou du Rouet), bred by Nya Appelvikens Ridskola Ab, he stopped the clock at 46.57 seconds to claim bronze.

There was also Belgian success in fourth place. Niels Bruynseels guided the BWP mare Oaky Flandria (by H&M Cabrio van de Heffinck x Cumano) to another clear round in the jump-off with a time of 48.82 seconds. German rider Marco Kutscher rounded out the top five with Pikeur Lemar NRW (by Los Angeles x Baloubet du Rouet).
