No fewer than thirteen combinations qualified for the jump-off in this 1.55m main event. Marlon Modolo Zanotelli was the first to start with the 14-year-old BWP stallion, Grand Slam VDL (Cardento). With one jumping fault in 38.59 seconds, he set the time to beat.
Peder Fredricson followed with a clear round. Riding Catch Me Not S (Cardento, breeder: Krister Svedberg), the Swede finished in 38.63 seconds. As one of the last combinations to start, Richard Vogel and his stallion United Touch 'S' (Untouched, breeder: Julius-Peter Sinnack) managed to beat Fredricson's time. After a flawless round in 38.57 seconds, the pair claimed victory.
Third place went to reigning Belgian champion Gilles Thomas and his championship horse, Ermitage Kalone (Catoki, breeder: Magali Dessalles). Thomas and the son of Catoki stayed ahead of Jur Vrieling with the 10-year-old Clear Heart (Clarimo). In front of her home crowd, Kim Emmen completed the top five in the saddle of her Olympic ace, Imagine (Cassini Gold).
