During the Longines CHI Classics Basel, the international CSI5* 1.50m speed class was decided on pure pace and accuracy. In the Swiss city of Basel, the best combinations kept a clean sheet, with the clock ultimately determining the final order in a class counting for the Longines Ranking.
Victory went to Richard Vogel, who delivered a faultless round with the BWP stallion Phenyo van het Keysersbos (Corydon van T&L), bred by Hans & Heidi Van Den Bossche - De Keyser, and stopped the clock at 59.33 seconds. With that sharp time, the German rider set a benchmark that held until the end.
Second place was claimed by Kevin Staut aboard Feline de Hus HDC (Kannan). The pair also jumped clear but finished in 62.60 seconds. The podium was completed by Andreas Schou, who produced another faultless round with Billy Matador (Billy Mexico) in 62.79 seconds, narrowly trailing Staut.
Just outside the podium finished the best Swiss combination, with Anthony Bourquard and Festival Semilly (Tornesch) posting a clear round in 63.65 seconds. The top five was completed by Yuri Mansur and Vitiki (Valentino), who also jumped clear and crossed the line in 64.03 seconds.
