Steve Guerdat (SUI) has given an update on his condition. The Swiss rider underwent another operation on his back. “Everything went well and I’m feeling better and better… but I need to rest,” said Guerdat.
“My horses are in top condition,” continued the 2012 Olympic champion (and current world number eight). “In Dinard, the pain came back and I had to undergo additional examinations.”
This is Guerdat’s second operation in a short period of time. Back in February, the Swiss rider already had to take a break. In May, the 2024 Olympic silver medalist returned to competition. Although he already felt the difficulties in Dinard, he kept riding and even competed two weeks ago in Spruce Meadows.
“It is thanks to the support of my team that I was still able to compete in Calgary,” Guerdat said. “Thanks to my team’s dedication and the fantastic horses, we were able to achieve a great result. It’s a privilege to be able to rely on such a team and to have such amazing horses.”
The Swiss rider now needs to take some rest and then focus on his recovery.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
