Steve Guerdat and the 12-year-old gelding, bred by Daniel Boudrenghien, jumped to the win in 38.00 seconds. The pair also won the World Cup leg in Leipzig earlier this season.

“I really wanted to do well because of the points. We did the whole trip here to Helsinki just to try to gain the last few points that were missing for the Final, so I didn't want to mess it up,” explained Guerdat.

“I think everybody close to the sport, or who knows me, knows about the special relationship that I have with this World Cup Series, and especially the World Cup Final,” said Guerdat. “This is a competition I knew about when I was growing up, and that motivated me to be part of it one day. Now I'm a little part of the history of the World Cup, and I continue to be very motivated by it.”

The combination finished just four-hundredths of a second ahead of Oda Charlotte Lyngvaer and the 12-year-old Zangersheide mare, Carabella vd Neyen Z (Carrera VDL).

Viktor Daem completed the World Cup podium. Daem jumped clear to third place with the 11-year-old KWPN mare, Kavaliers Blue (VDL Zirocco Blue). Also clear was Paula de Boer-Schwarz with My Miss Marpel OLD (Mylord Carthago*HN) in fourth place.

Aboard of the 10-year-old Zangersheide mare, Vida Loca Z (Vigo d'Arosuilles), Kevin Staut completed the top five.
