The CSI5* 1.50m RBC Capital Markets Cup capped off Friday at the Spruce Meadows ‘National’, presented by Rolex, in Calgary, Canada – and the Irish were at it again.
This time it was Jordan Coyle (IRL) riding For Gold (For Fashion x Heraldik) who bested the rest of them in a five-horse jump-off. Coyle had a key spot, going last and giving him the opportunity to execute his strategy to perfection. For Gold gave it his all and crossed the finish line clear with a time of 35.85 to seal another victory for Ireland, followed by Conor Swail (IRL) and My Lady Lavista (Mylord Carthago x Levisto) in second in 36.78 and Darragh Kenny (IRL) aboard Diaroubet (Diarado x Baloubet du Rouet) in third in 37.56.
Conor Swail (IRL) proved yet again why he’s ranked 15th in the world with a victory in Friday's CSI5* 1.50m ATCO Cup at the Spruce Meadows 'National' 2025. Aboard the chestnut mare One Edition (Otangelo x Kannan), Swail posted the fastest clear ride in the jump-off between eight horse-and-rider combinations, taking the win with a time of 34.38. Swail also tied for third in the competition aboard Clonterm Obolensky (Cornet Obolensky x Lux Z) with fellow Irishman Darragh Kenny and Zero K (Kannan x Robin Z), while Eugenio Garza Perez (MEX) and Chalouries PS (Chacco-Blue x Baloubet du Roeut) slotted into second.
“One of the interesting things about the summer season at Spruce Meadows is that you can bring young horses here and get some time with them in a number of different rings. That really can help their trajectory as young horses," Swail said about the experiences his horses can gain while competing all summer at Spruce Meadows.
