"Armitages Boy is no longer with us... It is with great sadness that France Étalons and his co-owners announce the passing of the stallion with the unforgettable jump," the official press release stated. For the past six years, the stallion had been dedicated fully to breeding, passing on his legendary hind-end technique—his absolute trademark—to his offspring.

From Discovery to Championship Success

The stallion was originally discovered by Philippe de Balanda. While De Balanda recognized the horse's immense talent, he felt he was not the right rider to bring him to the highest level. Consequently, the horse moved to the stables of Norman rider Aymeric de Ponnat.

The duo became a pillar of the French team, securing victories in the Nations Cups of Falsterbo and Gijón. Their partnership reached its peak in 2013, when they helped the French team secure a fourth-place finish at the European Championships in Herning.

The "Genius" Era with Lorenzo De Luca

Following his top-tier performances, the stallion eventually moved to Stephan Conter’s Stephex Stables. Under the saddle of Italy’s Lorenzo De Luca, he became part of a "dream duo."

"He is a true genius. He anticipates the difficulties and trusts me completely. I always have a smile on my face when I ride him," De Luca famously said in an interview at the time.

In 2017, the pair enjoyed their most successful season ever, claiming top honors in the Global Champions Tour of Mexico City, Madrid, and Miami, and securing a win in the Nations Cup of St. Gallen. Throughout his career, Armitages Boy remained a true crowd favorite, celebrated for his explosive jumping style and tireless spirit.

A Lasting Legacy

Beyond his own achievements in the ring, Armitages Boy has made a significant mark on the breeding world. He leaves behind a legacy of numerous offspring currently competing at the highest levels of the sport.
