With only the final leg in Rabat remaining on the calendar, the Belgian rider secured the overall standings of the Longines Global Champions Tour 2026 during the LGCT of Cairo. A season characterized by sharp precision, ironclad combinations, and a relentless pursuit of points thus found its ultimate crowning achievement one leg before the end.

“Honestly, I still can't quite grasp it,” Saïd reacted. “In my mind, the battle was going to continue until the very last leg in Rabat next week; I was fully focused on that. When they told me I could already take the title today - even with a rail down - the tension immediately kicked in, of course.”

“I am incredibly proud of my horses and my team. It has been a long and grueling season, where we fought for both the individual LGCT standings and the GCL teams.”

Alongside the individual triumph, the weekend in Cairo also brought success on a team level with the Istanbul Warriors, completing the celebration after an already impressive week.

“With the Istanbul Warriors, we also finished second in the team championship. To achieve that here in Cairo and go home with two top finishes is a wonderful way to close out the weekend.”

Behind every point earned lie countless hours of preparation, care, and dedication. When asked about the role of his groom and the team working behind the scenes, Saïd was short but powerful:

“Without them, I simply wouldn't be standing here!”

That gratitude resonated through all his words, especially when reflecting on what it means to now stand among the riders he used to look up to. The legends who once made the circuit seem unbeatable served as his motivation.

“This is a hugely important moment. I used to watch this with my mouth open, thinking it was almost unachievable. Back when Scott Brash rode Sanctos and Rolf-Göran Bengtsson rode Casall, I was literally enjoying it from the sidelines. To stand here myself now and win it makes me immensely proud. Above all, I am thrilled for my horses and my entire support team.”
