“Never give up,” says Leon Thijssen firmly. It’s a mantra he passed on to his children, Mans, Sanne and Mel, and one they now embody with equal drive. The Thijssens are more than just a horse family. They are a team, a school of learning, and at times, even each other’s toughest competitors. Yet rivalry is absent, what prevails instead is pride and mutual support. “Of course I want to win myself,” says Mel, “but if I can’t, then I’d rather see them on top.” Discover our full interview with Leon, Mans, and Mel Thijssen.
