McLain Ward: "Disappointing but correct decision to cancel Devon this year."

Devon Horse Show and Country Fair organizers announced on March 30 that the 124th DHSCF scheduled for May 21-31 has been canceled. This is only the second time that DHSCF has been canceled—the first was for a three-year period during World War II. This decision was made only after significant evaluation of the far-reaching operational and financial implications. The organizers evaluated many options including postponement, and this decision was made independent of the Center for Disease Control, U.S. Equestrian Federation and Fédération Equestre Internationale as these organizations were unable to provide the necessary timelines for adequate planning. In fairness to the competitors, vendors, volunteers and all others involved, the DHSCF believes that this decision is the best for everyone under the circumstances.

"With the disappointing but correct decision to cancel Devon this year because of the outbreak of the coronavirus many are sharing their memories of what makes Devon so special. For me there have been many great moments in the Dixon oval. "
