CHIO Rotterdam will be the only leg in the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup competition 2020 where Varela will be the course designer. A great opportunity for the teams from Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Sweden, USA, Japan and the Netherlands to experience what they can expect in Tokyo. Besides the Nations Cup Varela will also design the courses for all other jumping classes at the 72nd CHIO Rotterdam, including the Longines Grand Prix on Friday.

The Spanish level 4 course designer has built the Longines FEI Jumping Nation Cup final courses sinces 2013 and designed for the FEI European Championships for Young Riders, Juniors and Children in Frontera and the FEI European Championships Jumping in Gothenburg in 2017. "Horses need to have a natural solution on every fence, and I like to challenge riders to find the solution for their horses," aldus Varela. "they need to enable the horses to maintain their rhythm."
