It was a promissing battle the 1.50/1.55m competition with the London eye in the background. Rider after rider didn't succeed in finishing faultless in the jump off. Only 14 managed to start in this amazing second round. Big dissapointement was for Ben Maher who looked towards a faultless round riding towards his last fence. But helas, that one was to much to keep the scorebord clear. Eventually it was the last rider and horse in the ring that went home with the victory. Harry Smolders and his own Regina Z (by Rex Z) set the time at 32.71 seconds. He claimed the €30,000 first prize. He added "I know this horse is fast, but tomorrow she gets the day off, she deserves it". The pair finished almost half a second faster as American Ward McLain and Rothchild. France's leading lady Pénélope Leprevost (Vagabond de la Pomme) made it to the third place. Further Laura Kraut (Andretti S), Doda de Miranda (AD Rahmannshof's Bogeno), Katherine Dinan (Amaretto D Arco) and surprising Belgium's Gudrun Patteet (Sea Coast Atlantic) finished their round without touching the wood. Ending in a fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh place. Harry_smolders_GCT_london_14
