Last week-end the famous show jumping stallion Baloubet du Rouet was honoured at the Global Champions Tour in Estoril. In 2004 Baloubet won the Olympics in Athens with rider Rodrigo Pessoa. Together with his son, Ludger Beerbaum's Chaman, Baloubet showed his best at the honorary presentation in Estoril.
In 1994 Baloubet entered the stables of the Brasilian Nelson Pessoa. Under the saddle of Pessoa Baloubet triumphed at the World Championships for six-year-old horses and won the French championships for seven-year-old horses. The pair jumped in 263 international competition from which they won 65. In total Baloubet won 3 worldcup finals, the Olympic Bronze medal at the Olympics in Sidney 2000 and the golden medal at the Olympics in Athens, 2004. Baloubet is now 24 years old and enjoying his retirment in Portugal.
