Police are investigating after five horses had their tails cut off in British Columbia, Canada. The tales were found to have been cut on January 12 on a rural Cowichan property, on Vancouver Island. Corporal Krista Hobday, with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, said: “This cruel act of theft will have a negative impact on the comfort and well being of the horses, who rely on their tail for fending off biting and stinging insects.” The motive for the tail thefts had yet to be determined. Two horses on the same property were targeted in a similar way in March last year. Anyone with information should contact the North Cowichan/Duncan police on 250-748-5522 or anonymously on 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
