The British rider Suzanna Hext lost her Abira (by Don Perignon) to colic. The combination won 3 gold medals in the Para Europeans in Gothenburg. Abira was 20 years old and was owned by Pammy Hutton.
In 2015 Hext took over the reins and they gained multiple victories in Grade III but the highlight of their career was definitely in Gotenborg in 2017 were they went home with 3 gold medals from the European Championship.
Hext says on her Facebook page: " Heartbroken and slightly was lost for words. You are my world Abira and my everything, thank you will never sum up quite how grateful I am to you for giving me my life back and helping me to believe in myself again. You're truly one in a million and a horse of a lifetime."
