Berlin Eagles fly to the top of Global Champions League in Miami

On sunny Miami Beach, the second round of the Global Champions League just came to a thrilling close this afternoon. In this second round of the GCL competition of Miami everyone was kept on the edge of their seats as changes in the standings were going on until the very last minute. In the end it was the Berlin Eagles, consisting of Ludger Beerbaum and Christian Kukuk who were the only team over the two rounds to leave the wood in the spoons without any time faults.

Berlin Eagles teammates Ludger Beerbaum with Mila (by Monte Bellini) and Christian Kukuk with Mumbai (by Diamant de Semilly), secured a team total of zero points with a total time score of 154.63 seconds which put them in first in this second GCL competition in Miami. Madrid In Motion consisting of Maikel van der Vleuten with Beauville Z (by Bustique) and Eduardo Alvarez Aznar with Bentley de Sury (by Sunday de Riverland) sprinted to second place with a team total of four penalty points. A jumping fault for Aznar in the second round kept them from a first place. Rome Gladiator-teammates Nina Mallevaey with Chacco Kid (by Chacco Blue) and Zoe Conter with Dawa de Greenbay Z (by Diarado) recorded a team total of eight penalty points and a total time of 147.38 seconds. Zoe Conter unfortunately made one jumping fault in the triple combination and that kept the Rome Gladiators from a silver medal.

The Shangai Swans with Christian Ahlmann and Solid Gold Z (by Stakkato Gold) and Katrin Eckermann and Cala (by Capistrano 2) Mandia finished narrowly in fourth place. Spencer Smith with Theodore Manciais (by Kashmir van Schuttershof) and Denis Lynch with Brooklyn Heights (by Nabab de Reve) brought their New York Empire team to fifth place.

The Cannes Stars were disqualified in this second round after blood was allegedly noticed near the tracks of Caprice, the horse of Jens Baackmann.

Individual rankings

Nina Mallevaey and the sixteen year old gelding Chacco Kid (by Chacco-Blue) finished at the very top. They were followed by Katrin Eckermann and Cala Mandia (by Cpaistrano 2) on second place. Jordan Coyle and the eleven year old stallion Ariso (by Casall) completed the top three.

Maikel van der Vleuten could count on his trusty gelding Beauville Z (by Bustique) to finish fourth. Christian Kukuk and Mumbai (by Diamant de Semilly) finished fifth.
