At the Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera, the day got off to a strong start with a CSI4* Medium Tour 1.50m class. In this class, which also counted for the Longines Ranking, there was a separate jump-off to see who could lead the victory lap.
For New Zealand, Bruce Goodin rode the fourteen-year-old KWPN Backatorps Danny V (by Quasimodo Z) to victory. The duo set the best time of 39.28 seconds. Dominique Hendrickx kept the Belgian honour high and rode Koriano van Klapscheut (by Lord Z) in 40.16 seconds to the silver. The top three was completed by Penelope Leprevost and Texas (by Tornesch) who finished third in 40.20 seconds.
Richard Howley (Fame) had to settle for fourth while William Fletcher (Ginadina PP) secured fifth place.
