It's not sure that the Olympics can take place next year. The IOC-President Thomas Bach said in an interview with the BBC that the Games will be cancelled if they cannot take place next year.
The Japanese prime minister Abe already announced that the Olympics can only take place if the Corona virus is fully under control by then. Bach says he understands that point of view but confirms there will be a problem if the Games can't take place again next year: "You can't change the calendar of every big sport federation for two years in a row".
He adds that the IOC is working on different scenario's such as atletes being but in quarantaine before competing and organizing the Olympics without audience.
