Quintana takes main victory during opening day WEF

The Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington has begun. Until mid-April, national and international sections will alternate. The main section on the opening day came yesterday in the hands of Ramiro Quintana and the KWPN'er Hemerald-Balia (v. Emerald). In this 1m45 class they were convincingly the fastest.

There was not much competition: only eight riders started. Quintana was no less than five seconds faster than his first pursuers and took home the victory. "He is doing very well and I hope to reach the 1m50 level soon," he said. "He is a typical Emerald: very careful and he always goes for it. An easy, honest horse. He is so simple, I love it".

McLain Ward in turn wrote one of the 1m40 classes to his name in the saddle of Kassiodam (v. Luidam). Eryn Ballard and Nespresso van't Laekhof (by Cicero Z) took the profit in the other 1m40 class.
