FORMER VICE PRESIDENT OF THE FEI SUSPECTED OF CORRUPTION


The president of the Japanese Olympic Committee, Tsunekazu Takeda, has been indicted for 'active corruption. According to information from the Daily Le Monde. They state that the Japanese capital could have benefited from vote buying for the organization of the 202 Olympic Games. The 71 year old Takeda used to be a high level rider and coach of Japan's National team.




Tsunekazu Takeda is suspected of having favored the Japanese designation, on September 7, 2013 in Buenos Aires, by paying bribes. He was questioned on December 10th by the French justice system, which has been investigating this subject for three years. 

Takeda used to coach the Japanese team during Los Angeles in 1984, Seoul in 1988 and Barcelona in 1992. He also was a member of the FEI Board from 1992 to 2002. Today he holds a position as Honorary Vice President.


Back in 2015 it was speculated in the context of judicial inquiry by the National Financial Office that they discovered important payments of the Tokyo Organizing Committee of a Singapore based company.  The company Black Tidings made payments on july 20 and october 28 back in 2013 shortly before and after the host city's award. A total of €1.8 million was paid.
