Inaugural Kingsman Elite Sale Captures Global Audience with Quality Showjumping Breeding
It was a fantastic weekend of well-bred young horses with untapped potential at the Kingsman Elite Sale. The hybrid online/in-room bidding format was the first of its kind in the UK and attracted bidders from across the globe.

The catalogue featured 34 two, three, and four-year-olds with top showjumping bloodlines, including Big Star x London, Baloubet de Rouet x Nabab de Reve, Colosal x Clinton II, and Glenfiddich x Corland. The horses were sourced from leading breeders across the UK and Europe, representing excellent quality, honesty and value for money.

The auction started on June 25th, online, allowing bidders to place their starting bids via the online app. The week’s main event, the loose jumping and last bids day on July 30th, featured a VIP lunch and dinner with two loose jumping sessions – all broadcast live online. James Atherton-Ham, Founder Kingsman Equine said: “This auction concept allows bidders to source quality horses with no sharp practices from wherever they are in the world. Kingsman is about transparency in the sale, and as such, all horses’ vets reports and x-rays were available to view from the moment the catalogue was released.”

On the auction finale evening, the horses were loose jumped, showing their scope and ability. The bidding got off to a cracking start with Lot 4 (Boyfriend du Seigneur x Calandro) selling for £10,000 and Lot 5 (Harley VDL x Indoctro) selling for £12,000. The average sale price was £10,205, with 16 of the 34 lots selling in the ring. The top lot was Lot 15 (Balous Bellini x Nekton) at £20,000, with Lot 14 (Baloubet de Rouet x Quidam de Revel) coming in at £17,000 and Lot 16 (Big Star Jr K Z x Sydney) at £13,000.

Top showjumping producer Julian Mincher who purchased three lots said: “The Kingsman Elite Sale certainly was a good one for us. We purchased three quality youngsters who we are very excited about. The food served throughout the day and the evening was really good and myself and my clients – some who had travelled from Dubai – were very well looked after from start to finish.”

Consigner and top breeder of sport horses Maarten Kamphuis said: “The Kingsman Auction has great potential to grow as a successful young sport horse auction. The operation is very professional and most importantly, the quality of the horses was really good. During this first auction, the trade was good and people bought really quality horses for a good price. I am sure the buyers will be really happy with these horses and come back to buy more.”
