The 3rd largest equestrian event of Europe started today, February 14, but the inscriptions for the first phase of the event are already closed for several weeks.

This time of year Vilamoura is the destination chosen by most horse riders of Europe. The capacity of the competition, for the first 4 weeks, is complete.

The numerous requests that continue to arrive from all over the world, are only available for the last 2 weeks of the event.

During the Atlantic Tour 2017, between 14 February and 2 April, a total of 6 weeks, Vilamoura lives ' high season ' in the middle of winter.

The international prestige achieved by this contest is evidenced by the rankings released by the International Federation of Equestrian Sports (FEI): In 2016, Vilamoura was the 3rd place in Europe with greater participation of sets in competitions.

In 2017 are expected more than 1000 horses and 300 horse riders, representing 30 nationalities. As a factor of attraction, the prize-money grew to 840,000 euros, 24 competitions scores to the Longines Ranking of FEI and qualifying 2 for the Championships of Europe 2017 and 2018 FIFA World Cup.

For a month, 15000 people turn Vilamoura in an authentic “Equestrian City”.

With the increase of participants, the organizer of the event (Centro Hípico de Vilamoura, chaired by António Moura), estimates that the economic impact in the region reach the 25 million euros.
