Hickstead White is VTV Jumping Stallion of the year

Traditionally, a VTV jumping stallion was also honored at this year's Oldenburg Stallion Days. This highly prestigious award is given to a licensed Oldenburg stallion for its outstanding achievements in both sport and breeding. On the occasion of the Stallion Days of the Oldenburg International Show Jumping Horse Breeders' Association, Hickstead White was decorated with the VTV sash.

Heiko Meinen, the R+V VTV General Agent specializing in animal insurance, did not hesitate to reward the breeder and owner with a generous check of 1000 euros for their breeding excellence.

All good things come in threes: Hickstead White, OS, born in 2012, by Hickstead out of Queentina by Coupe de Coeur - Quidam’s Rubin - Watzmann - Perser xx, bred and owned by Gestüt Sprehe GmbH, Löningen, was celebrated for the third time during the Oldenburg Stallion Days. In 2014, he left the licensing in Vechta with a positive licensing judgment; two years later, he delighted in winning the main premium at the Oldenburg International Show Jumping Horse Breeders' Association, and in 2024, the gray stallion was now crowned VTV Stallion – an impressive track record.

In his 30-day test in 2015 in Neustadt/Dosse, the OS stallion received a score of 9.5 for his jumping ability and was the overall winner of the group. He completed his sport test in 2017 as the best five-year-old with a score of 8.82. The son of the legendary Hickstead already celebrates international successes in sport under the saddle of Jörne Sprehe. In 2023, they jumped to sixth place in a 1.55m competition in Munich-Riem. This was followed by top placings at the 5-star level, including at the CHIO in Aachen. There, Hickstead White and Jörne Sprehe placed in all four started competitions over 1.45m. Further 5-star successes followed in Hickstead, a third place in Spruce Meadows, Calgary, over 1.50m, and in Barcelona. At the end of the year, they also won the Grand Prix of Linz-Ebelsberg, a 1.50m competition.

Talent doesn't come by chance – father Hickstead won at the Olympic Games in Hong Kong in 2008 under Eric Lamaze. Mother Queentina was reserve champion mare on the brillantring in Rastede in 2011 and successfully jumps at the top level at 1.60m with Tobias Meyer. She won, among others, the Grand Prix of Salzburg at 1.60m, the Championship at the Munich Indoors, and placed in the World Cup Jumping in Leipzig. Her father Coupe de Coeur became German Champion three times. And Hickstead White's grandmother Quadriga also achieved success in 1.40m jumping under Paweena Wernke and is the sister of two other 1.40m successful show jumpers.

As a sire, Hickstead White has already produced numerous licensed sons and auction toppers, such as the top-priced Harriet from the Spring Elite Auction in 2020. His first offspring, at the age of eight, are already placed in S-level jumping competitions. His licensed sons include Herrera TN, Hugh Grant, Hickstead Junior, Housten White, and Highscore, among others. Success seems to have been ingrained in Hickstead White and his offspring from the beginning.
