Ingmar De Vos elected as new president of ASOIF

Ingmar De Vos is the sole candidate for the presidency of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF). The Belgian serves as the President of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) but will now also take on the role of president at the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF).

The third term of the current president, Francesco Ricci Bitti, ends on December 31, 2024. The announcement of the president will take place during the 48th General Assembly on April 9 in Birmingham.

The president is elected by secret ballot for a four-year term coinciding with the year of the Summer Olympic Games and takes office on January 1 of the following year.

De Vos was the only candidate nominated by the official deadline of March 25. According to the statutes of ASOIF, full members can nominate a member of the Executive Body for the role of ASOIF president.

De Vos, FEI president since 2014, ASOIF Council member since 2019, and IOC member since 2017, is active in numerous sports organizations, including SportAccord, as a member of the Executive Committee, WADA as a representative on the Executive Committee, and the Belgian Olympic Committee, as a member of the Board of Directors. He is also a UN International Gender Champion.
