The second round competition at the FEI European Championships in Milan are halfway and the first classes are ridden. Time for some halfway reactions as the ranking shifts...
"It's a difficult course here in Milan," says Niels Bruynseels (BEL). "It's a long race, and unfortunately I had a bit of a cheap fault on my first fence. After the vertical. I could say it has to do with luck, but to be honest... it was just not good enough today." concludes the Belgian rider.
A bit later Christian Kukuk reacts with a smile. "I should be happy as I was clear" says Kukuk. "However, I'm a bit unhappy as I wasn't able to compete the class as I wanted, but I'm happy Mumbai showed me he's focussed on the job and can anticipate in any circumstance. He really feels great in the class and I do believe the ranking will shift a lot today."

"Het is een zwaar parcours hier in Milaan. En een lang kampioenschap. Ik had een beetje een goedkope fout op de eerste hindernis en nadien de stijlsprong die volgde. Ik moet gewoon eerlijk zijn het was niet goed genoeg, het had niets met geluk te maken." vertelt Niels Bruynseels na zijn parcours.
Iets later volgde Christian Kukuk met Mumbai. "Wij bleven gelukkig foutloos," vertelt Kukuk opgelucht. "Zelf ben ik wat ongelukkig met het parcours omdat ik niet het gehele parcours volgen plan kon springen. Maar daar toonde Mumbai dat hij focus heeft en zelf goed kan anticiperen. Hij geeft echt een leuk gevoel in het parcours."

Olympic Champion Ban Maher reacted with a smile. "Faltic was super today. In the warm-up he felt great, it went all relaxed and the feeling was good It was my taks to guide Faltic easy to the course" Maher says. "Faltic is not a natural very fast horse, so we didn't manage to obtain a perfect starting position after the speed & handiness. But today we showed we are ready to get the Olympic ticket."
