FEI implies new format for World Equestrian Games
After announcing the new format for the next Olympic Games the FEI has announced the new rules for 2017. Among others the FEI World Equestrian Games will be held in a new format. In 2018 Tryon will be the host for the next WEG, but now it seems the trip might be shorter than expected for some riders, questioning if it is worth the trip.

After the first round at the WEG 2018 only ten countries will proceed to the second round. The complete program will only have two times two rounds. The second round will be open for 10 countries and 60 individual show jumping riders. Only 25 combinations (and potential ex aequo combinations) will proceed ... Very brief, the program will be short and raises questions of the intention for smaller equestrian countries to compete, make the expences to travel to Tryon, USA for potentially one round.

That legendary switch, where Zenith and Jeroen Dubbeldam won the championships, will probably go into history as the last horse switch ever at the FEI World Equestrian Games. The horse switch was first organized in 1953 in Paris.

Lucky the format for a team of 4 riders will be preserved. In Brief, the next WEG will be an interesting to follow...
