Sweden jumps to Golden Team Medal in Herning

It seemed like a done deal halfway the Nations Cup finals at the WEG in Herning. In the end ... the undoubtedly golden team medal winner was Sweden. Individually it is Hernik von Eckermann and his King Edward who take the lead.

Halfway the Nations Cup finals Sweden had two clear rounds thanks to Von Eckermann and Jens Fredricson aboard the 11-year-old, Markan Cosmopolit. For Malin Baryard-Johnsson and the 14-year-old daughter of Kashmir van Schuttershof, H&M Indiana one rail fell down.

It was up to the last riders to shift the cards. For Belgium final rider at the start was Gregory Wathelet and Nevados S (Calvados Z). Belgium was currently ranked third. However an unfortunate result of 12 points for Wathelet made the red-jackets fall down into the eventually, seventh spot.

The result of Wathelet opened opportunities for team the Netherlands. Final riders wearing orange was Harrie Smolders and his trusted Monaco (Cassini II). The pair had to limit the 'damage' to 1 point if they wanted to take home a medal. After a clear round, the Netherlands secured its spot on stage. When Christian Ahlmann and Dominator 2000 Z followed with one jumping fault the GOLD was secured for Sweden and SILVER for the Netherlands.

Two riders remained; France's Kevin Staut and Sweden's Peder Fredricson. Staut didn't manage to make a clear finish, opening the BRONZE medal for Great-Britain. As final rider at the start. Fredricson and his H&M All In had an unfortunate round. The pair falls back into the runner-up position in the individual ranking.

In the end SWEDEN claimed Gold and was followed by the Netherlands and Great-Britain on stage.
