Al Shira'aa Hickstead Derby canceled

The directors of All England Jumping Courses have decided to cancel the Al Shira'aa Hickstead Derby.

For the second year in a row, the current Covid-19 situation makes it impossible for the competition to take place. The international contest will now be replaced by a national contest on the same date (23-27 June).

Normally, the organization welcomes around 40,000 spectators.

Hickstead's director Lizzie Bunn commented:

"This was a very difficult decision, but the Derby is more than a showjumping competition, it is an occasion where a full and enthusiastic crowd plays its part. Because of the uncertainty about the spectators allowed and the other restrictions we face, we are concentrating all our efforts on organizing a big five-day national competition. We would like to thank Al Shira'aa and all our stakeholders for their continued support during this challenging time."
