Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli secures first 5* victory in Basel

CHI Basel has its first 5* winner. Swedish rider Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli managed to set the fastest time out of more than forty clear combinations, and thus received the gold aboard Fire Loops 2 M (Florencio).

The 1.40m class posed no problems for most of the competitors, which meant that only the fastest riders who dared to take the biggest risks took the prizes. For Augustsson Zanotelli, time was by no means a problem, as the rider sent the 12-year-old Fire Loops 2 M through the finish line with an unbeatable 54.17 seconds on the clock. Almost a second after the winning duo, Philipp Schulze Topphoff and the ten-year-old chestnut mare Carla (Comme Il Faut) followed in second place. Another eleven hundredths later, Victor Bettendorf on the grey gelding Simolo de la Roque Z (Spartacus TN) took the last spot on the podium.

France's Penelope Leprevost came just nine hundredths short of a medal and placed fourth on Candy d'Elle (Conrad). Rounding out the top five was Norway's Cecilie Hatteland and the nine-year-old Toulon daughter, Tourelle Z, who clocked in at 57.09 seconds.
