Ninth consecutive win for Michael Jung in Stuttgart Masters Indoor Cross Country

At the end of the first day of the 36th international Stuttgart German Masters, crowd favorite Michael Jung confidently won the eventing indoor derby with a lead of almost ten seconds. For Jung this was already his ninth consecutive victory!

In the saddle of his nine-year-old gelding Kilcandra Ocean Power (BGS Ocean View), Jung was the last competitor to start in the Stuttgart Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle. The German duo crossed the finish line with a chrono of 44.52, smashing the previous best time of Cathal Daniels and CDS Cairnview Romolu (Omar / 53.43 seconds).

"It's great that the German Masters are taking place again and it's a great pleasure to ride here," Jung said after his crushing lap. “Thanks to my supporters I have great horses at my disposal. Kilcandra Ocean Power gave me a great feeling today and was a blast to ride!”

In front of 5,600 enthusiastic spectators Sweden's Sofia Sjöborg took third place on the back of her 13-year-old KWPN gelding Eastbourne (Zèlote VDL). Just off the podium, the numbers four and five followed each other by only two hundredths of difference. The Irish Stephan Dubsky clocked 53.80 seconds on the ten-year-old stallion Karla (Calmando), just ahead of the Belgian Julien Despontin and Quick Fiddlestick (Quality).
