Lillie Keenan: "Competing in Aachen has been the proudest moment of my career so far"

Lillie Keenan is one of the upcoming talents from the United States. Last week was her first time in Aachen and together with Rolex Grand Slam, she looks back on one of the proudest moments of her career.

What are your goals for 2022?

"There's a lot of opportunity", Keenan says. "We have a World Championship and I also would really like to be jumping in all of the Rolex Grand Slam Grand Prix. If 2022 is my year, I of course would also want to bring home the win in one of those Grand Prix. Apart from that, there are a few young horses I'd like to develop."

What is the proudest moment of your career?

"Proudest moment of my career so far is probably being able to compete in Aachen. That's been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. I've won at plenty of fantastic events and even though I didn't have the greatest luck, I hope it's my first time of many."

Who inspired you throughout your career?

"My parents have inspired me the most. Both my mom and my dad have driven me to be the best that I can in whatever passion I had."

What keeps you motivated for succes?

"I think I was born hungry for succes. Everything in my life, I wanted to be the best at. I was that in school even and definitely with the horses I not only want to be the best in the ring. I want my horses to have the best care, I want to be the best professional all round. I think that's something you're born with and once it's in you, you can't get rid of it."

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

"This is just the beginning and you have a lot to look forward to so don't give up and don't let set backs hold you back."
