Katrin Eckermann leads Cascajall to victory in World Championship 6YO

The sun continued to shine in Lanaken, and the young horses shone even brighter. After the five-year-olds, it was the turn of the six-year-old horses to give their best. The challenging 1.40m high course led many combinations into error, resulting in a jump-off with ten.

Although there were quite a few Irish combinations at the start again, this time only two were seen in the jump-off. Winner of the silver in the five-year-olds, Niamh McEvoy was also back in action, this time with BP Tiny Dancer. This mare is a daughter of Plot Blue and owned by Sarah Tredennick.

First up was Alexander Uekermann (GER) with IB Easy (Emerald). The duo immediately set an excellent example with a faultless round in a time of 36.88 seconds. Jarno van Erp followed as the second on the scene with Don Juan Z. The Zangersheide gelding by Dominator 2000 Z is a breeding product of Wim Luyten, who owns him along with Wick Luyten and Rene Van Erp. They had a rail down. Fellow countryman Jelmer Hoekstra qualified for the jump-off with Maddox vh Haringvliet Z (Monte Bellini), a breeding product of the family. The duo took the necessary risks and were rewarded with a provisional first place with a time of 35.79 seconds.

The lead was taken over by Leah Stack (IRL) and Laurina (Stakkato Gold). The mare is a breeding product of Noel Cawley, who unfortunately passed away earlier this year. Cawley bred several top horses in his lifetime and clearly ensured the next generation's success. The duo had previously won the six-year-olds class in Dublin.

The victory was snatched by Katrin Eckermann (GER) and Cascajall (Casallco). The duo was almost two seconds faster and finished in 34.06 seconds. Finally, all eyes were on Niamh McEvoy (IRL) in the saddle of BP Tiny Dancer (Plot Blue). Unfortunately, a rail from the cups kept the nineteen-year-old rider from a second medal.
